Canucks Prospect Mynio Traded In The WHL

Vancouver Canucks prospect Sawyer Mynio is on the move in the WHL as he was traded from the Seattle Thunderbirds to the Calgary Hitmen. The 19-year-old left-shot defenceman recently returned from the 2025 World Juniors, where he played three games for Team Canada. The WHL trade was a blockbuster, as Mynio was traded for two first-round picks, two fourth-round picks and two players.

BREAKING: Canucks' Thatcher Demko Leaves Game Against Seattle

Mynio is the second Canucks CHL prospect to be traded this season, joining Vilmer Alriksson, who was dealt in the OHL just a few weeks ago. In 18 games this season, Mynio had 19 points and was named co-captain of Seattle back in November. Drafted 89th overall by Vancouver in 2023, Mynio played 196 games with the Thunderbirds and was part of their 2023 Memorial Cup team that made it all the way to the final.

As for the Hitmen, they are building a talented team that could go on a run this year. Calgary now has six drafted players on their roster, including Carter Yakemchuk, who was a top-ten pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. The Hitmen currently sit third in the Eastern Conference and have put together a record of 20-11-3-1 through 35 games.
