Canucks Place Brännström On Waivers For Second Time This Season
The Vancouver Canucks have placed Erik Brännström on waivers. If the 25-year-old clears, he will be assigned to the AHL and join the Abbotsford Canucks. This is the second time Brännström has been placed on waivers, with the original coming back in October after he was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche.

After a strong start to his Canucks career, Brännström has struggled to find a consistent spot in Vancouver's lineup. He has been a healthy scratch for the last six games, with his previous action coming on New Year's Eve against the Calgary Flames. Through 28 games this season, Brännström has three goals and eight assists while averaging 14:56 of ice time.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that D Erik Brännström has been placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to Abbotsford (AHL).

Brännström being assigned to the AHL could indicate that Filip Hronek is getting close to re-joining the team. Hronek is recovering from a lower-body procedure and has not played since November 27 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Hronek is currently on a conditioning stint in Abbotsford so that he can practice while the Canucks are on their current five-game road trip.
