Canucks Pettersson Named By Predators Forsberg As Ideal Linemate At The 4 Nations Face-Off

The 4 Nations Face-Off is still a month away, but players are already discussing their ideal linemates for the tournament. In a recent interview with Randip Janda of Hockey Night in Canada: Punjabi, Nashville Predators Filip Forsberg was asked who his ideal linemates would be. While Sweden does have a stacked roster, one of Forsberg's answers was Vancouver Canucks Elias Pettersson, who is projected to play a significant role for Sweden at the tournament.

"It's hard to hard to do that," said Forsberg when discussing potential linemates. "I feel like there's just an overload of talent, and we're very fortunate enough to have the players that we have, obviously. I think just up the middle, I think, you know, Elias Pettersson is somebody that has done so well in this league, And you know, kind of not watching, but a little bit watching coming out of Sweden a few years ago, and how he's transitioned to the NHL and become a superstar in this league too. That's somebody that you know I'm looking forward to playing with. I haven't played with him before, so that would be exciting."

As for the other player Forsberg wants to play with, that would be Toronto Maple Leafs William Nylander. Pettersson and Nylander have played together before, as they were part of Sweden's 2019 World Championship team. In a short tournament like the 4 Nations Face-Off, a line of Forsberg, Pettersson, and Nylander could do some significant damage and could help Sweden take home a championship.

Forsberg's description of Pettersson is something that should not be overlooked. While Pettersson has struggled at times this season, he is still seen as an elite player in the league that other stars want to play beside. With all the noise surrounding Pettersson in Vancouver, it will be intriguing to watch him play at the 4 Nations Face-Off in February, especially when he goes up against his current Canucks teammates.
