Canucks Patrik Allvin Provides Updates On Boeser, Joshua, Demko & Lekkerimäki
Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin met with the media Saturday morning to provide injury updates on Brock Boeser, Dakota Joshua, Thatcher Demko and Jonathan Lekkerimäki. While each player has a different timeline, all four players will be unavailable when the Canucks take on the Oilers Saturday night. In anticipation of tonight's game, Vancouver did call up Nils Åman and Arshdeep Bains, who are projected to play on the fourth line against Edmonton.
Patrik Allvin just met with media:
-Boeser still being evaluated for an upper body injury. Won’t play tonight.
-Hopeful that Joshua can play on this homestand.
-No timeline for Demko.
-Lekkerimäki tweaked something and won’t play for Abby tonight.#Canucks @Sportsnet650— Brendan Batchelor (@BatchHockey) November 9, 2024
As reported by Sportsnet 650's Brendan Batchelor, Allvin informed the media that Boeser is still being evaluated after leaving Thursday's game against the L.A. Kings. Boeser took a high hit from Tanner Jeannot, which resulted in the Kings' forward receiving a match penalty and a three-game suspension. Boeser leads the Canucks in goals this season with six and is up to 11 points in 12 games.

Moving to Joshua, Allvin did not give a specific timeline but is hopeful he can return during the current homestand. Vancouver is starting a six-game homestand tonight, which will last until November 19. Once Joshua returns, he is projected to play a significant role in the lineup both at even strength and on the penalty kill.
For Demko, Allvin was unable to give an exact timeline for his return. Last year's Vezina Trophy runner-up has yet to play this season as he recovers from an injury to his Popliteus. Demko has been skating on his own for the past few weeks and has been part of the main practice group over the last few days.
Lastly, Allvin mentioned that Lekkerimäki has suffered an injury and will be unavailable for the Abbotsford Canucks tonight. Allvin also revealed that if Lekkerimäki were healthy, he would have been a call-up option for tonight's game. Lekkerimäki has been on fire this season, recording five goals and seven points in seven games to start his AHL career.
