Canucks Hughes & Pettersson Doubtful For Matchup Against The Kraken

The Vancouver Canucks returned to practice on Friday after their holiday break without two key players. Both Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson were not on the ice and are projected to miss Saturday's matchup with the Seattle Kraken. Both have played in all 34 games this season and sit first and second in points on the Canucks.

"Huggy was getting evaluated today and Petey has something later today. They are pretty well doubtful for tomorrow," said Rick Tocchet after practice on Friday. Tocchet also wouldn't give a timeline on the injuries nor specify what was ailing each player. Both Hughes and Pettersson have played in every game since the start of the 2023-24 season, racking up a combined 251 points in 232 games.

Saturday's game was set to be a milestone moment for Hughes, as he currently sits at 399 games played. Over his seven-year career, Hughes has 375 points and was named the Norris Trophy winner for the 2023-24 season. Hughes is also closing in on the franchise record for most points by a defenceman, needing just 35 points to pass Alex Edler.

As for Vancouver, they now get set to host Seattle on Saturday at Rogers Arena. Last season, the Canucks went 1-2-0 against the Kraken, falling 4-3 at home last November. Game time is set for 1:00 pm PT.
