Canucks Gameday Preview #46: An Opportunity To Pick Up Points Against A Tired Sabres Team
The Vancouver Canucks (20-15-10) will look to build some momentum as they welcome the Buffalo Sabres (17-24-5) to Rogers Arena on Tuesday night. This will be the second time these two expansion cousins have met this season, with Vancouver taking the first matchup 4-3 in overtime back in November. With a win, the Canucks would capture back-to-back wins for the first time since December 1 and would move back above the playoff bar and into a wild card spot.

After what has been a chaotic few days, Vancouver has the chance to quiet some of the noise with a big win at home. While the Canucks have struggled at Rogers Arena, they are facing one of the worst road teams in the NHL, who will also be tired as they played yesterday against the Seattle Kraken. If Vancouver can have a strong night on special teams and build an early lead, they should be able to defeat the Sabres and send fans home happy.
Players to Watch:
Filip Hronek:
With Tyler Myers and Noah Juulsen out of the lineup, Filip Hronek is expected to see additional ice time. According to Rick Tocchet, Hronek won't be spending the entire night with Quinn Hughes and, based on lines at practice, could see time next to Carson Soucy. Expect Hronek to surpass the 25-minute mark and see significant time both at even strength and on the penalty kill.
Rasmus Dahlin:
Rasmus Dahlin remains one of the top defensemen in the NHL. He has 32 points in 38 games and is averaging 24:33 this season. If the Canucks are going to have success on Tuesday, they need to limit Dahlin's chances and try to frustrate the 24-year-old.
