Canucks Gameday Preview #10: A Chance To Bump The Slump Versus The Sharks

After falling in their last two games, the Vancouver Canucks (4-2-3) head to California looking for a win against the San Jose Sharks (3-7-2). Last season, Vancouver won three of their four matchups against San Jose, which included a 10-1, which also happened on November 2. While it should be a fun game, one disappointing note is that Macklin Celebrini will not be playing for the Sharks as he continues to recover from a lower-body injury.

There should be plenty of opportunities for the Canucks in this game. San Jose is averaging 32.1 shots against per game while also giving up an average of 3.83 goals a night. If Vancouver can stay patient and utilize the counter-attack to its advantage, the team should be able to leave the SAP Center with a win.

Players To Watch

Jake DeBrusk:

Jake DeBrusk has had a tough start to the season. He has four points in nine games and is still looking for his first career goal with the Canucks. With six points in four career games at the SAP Center, Saturday could easily be the night he snaps his goalless streak and gets his first with Vancouver.

Will Smith:

After scoring his first two career goals against the Chicago Blackhawks, what does Will Smith have in store for Saturday night? Last year's Hobey Baker Finalist has also had a tough start to the season but has been getting better as he adjusts to life in the NHL. A threat to create chances whenever the puck is on his stick, Smith is going to be a problem the Canucks will have to deal with for a long time.
