Canucks Filip Hronek Assigned To Abbotsford For Conditioning Assignment

The Vancouver Canucks have assigned defenceman Filip Hronek to the Abbotsford Canucks for a conditioning stint. Hronek was injured on November 27 versus the Pittsburgh Penguins and underwent a lower-body procedure at the beginning of December. In the process, it was also revealed that Hronek also had an upper-body injury, but that injury did not require surgery.

To say Vancouver has missed Hronek is an understatement. In the 18 games since he left the lineup, the Canucks have seven wins and only 20 points. His absence has also caused Vancouver to juggle their defensive group and forced Tyler Myers to play over 22 minutes a night.

Based on the schedule, Hronek could see some action in the AHL this weekend. Abbotsford takes on the Henderson Silver Knights on Friday and Saturday at the Abbotsford Centre, with both games scheduled to start at 7:00 pm PT. This season, the AHL Canucks are 14-15-1-1 and are currently on a six-game losing streak.
