Canucks fans react online after Daniel Sedin's hat trick reaps only 1 hat

When Vancouver Canucks superstar player Daniel Sedin nailed a hat trick during Saturday night's game against the Chicago Blackhawks, fans seemed to miss the "hat" aspect of the decades-old tradition.

It appears only one, perhaps two, hats were thrown on to the ice after he scored three goals in the game.

Fans online decided to step up to the ice by throwing virtual hats using #TweetDanielAHat.

Right after the goal, play-by-play announcer Jim Hughson asked, "Are we in Canada? One measly hat on the ice for Daniel's sixth career hat trick."

During the post-game show, commentator Elliotte Friedman also raised the matter.

"I know hats are very expensive, but what is going on in Vancouver?" he asked.

"Vancouver, you can do better."

Pass it to Bulis, a Canucks fan blog, started the trend by calling on fans to throw Dank their hats from the interweb.

Fans were creative with their hat choices.

There was even a recap of the hat trick.

Some hats referenced Daniel's "magical" abilities.

Others offered a wide selection.

One person admitted online hats were easier on the wallet.

That's probably why #ThrewDanielAHat trended across Canada.
