Canucks Activate Pettersson From IR, Projected To Return To The Lineup Versus Hurricanes
The Vancouver Canucks are expected to receive a massive boost to their lineup as Elias Pettersson has been activated from IR. Pettersson has missed the last six games with an upper-body injury but is expected to return to the ice against the Carolina Hurricanes. Pettersson's last game came on December 23 during the San Jose Sharks, where he scored two goals before leaving in the third period.

During Pettersson's absence, the Canucks have struggled to generate offence. Over the past six games, they have a record of 1-2-3 and are averaging 2.17 goals per game. As for their only win, that came against the Seattle Kraken on January 2, when Vancouver gave up a two-goal lead in the third period before eventually winning in a shootout. Through 34 games this season, Pettersson has ten goals and 28 points and is averaging 19:08 of ice time per game.

The Canucks continue their five-game road trip on Friday against the Hurricanes. Vancouver has started the road trip with two overtime losses, falling to both the Montréal Canadiens and Washington Capitals. This will be the first of back-to-back games, with the Canucks facing off against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. Puck drop for both games is scheduled for 4:00 pm PT.
