Canucks Activate Hronek From IR, Expected To Return Against The Jets

The Vancouver Canucks will receive a massive boost to their lineup ahead of their matchup against the Winnipeg Jets. On Tuesday, the Canucks announced that defenceman Filip Hronek has been activated from IR and is expected to play his first game since November 27, 2024. Hronek has missed the last 21 games with both upper and lower-body injuries, which required a procedure in early December.

According to Rick Tocchet, Hronek is projected to play beside Quinn Hughes against the Jets. While the team is clearly excited about Hronek's return, Tocchet mentioned in his pre-game media that Vancouver will manage the defenders' minutes during Tuesday's game. Through 21 games this season, Hronek has nine points and is averaging 23:36 of ice time per month.

It is clear that the Canucks have missed Hronek. In the 21 games he was sidelined, Vancouver went 8-6-7 while averaging 2.67 goals per game. Hronek's insertion back in the lineup should not only help the Canucks generate more chances in the offensive zone but alleviate some of the additional minutes Tyler Myers had to play during his absence.

Vancouver wraps up their five-game road trip on Tuesday against Winnipeg. The Canucks are 1-1-2 through their first four games and will be looking to return to Vancouver with 20 wins on the season. Game time is set for 5:00 pm PT from the Canada Life Centre.
