Canadiens' Roy Racks Up Hat Trick On Weekend

Montreal Canadiens prospect Joshua Roy, who has yet to skate with the team this season, is now tearing it up in the AHL, collecting a hat trick on Saturday in a 6-3 Laval Rocket win over the Providence Bruins.

As the Rocket's leading scorer, with seven goals and ten points in nine games, Roy ranks ninth in AHL scoring while helping Laval to an 8-1 record and the top spot in the North Division.

In Saturday's game, Roy broke a 2-2 tie in the second period with his first of the game at 11:55. Less than four minutes later, he lit the lamp again at 15:38 to put the Rocket up 4-2.

In the dying minutes, Roy capped off the night with an empty net goal at 17:48 to collect his first hat trick on Oct. 20, 2023, against the Rochester Americans.

Last year, Roy scored 13 goals and 32 points in 41 games, earning a promotion to the Canadiens in January. In 23 NHL games, he collected four goals and nine points.

Considering the Canadiens rank 23rd overall in the NHL with just 33 goals through 12 games (2.75 GF/GP), there may be a chance for a hot scorer like Roy to get a shot in Montreal.
