The Canadiens Are Looking For Experienced Help For Martin St-Louis According to George Laraque
The Montreal Canadiens are struggling right now. They are on a six-game losing streak, which saw them slide all the way to last place in the standings. Some have already pressed the panic button, claiming Martin St-Louis should be fired, Nick Suzuki is not a good captain, and the rebuild is a failure.
Speaking on BPM Sports minutes ago, former enforcer Georges Laraque revealed a source sent him a picture of a meeting in Toronto this weekend. In a cafe, GM Kent Hughes and bench boss St-Louis were seen meeting experienced NHL coach Gerard Gallant.
For Laraque, this means the Canadiens are looking to hire an experienced coach to help St-Louis behind the bench. He doesn't go as far as saying Gallant will be hired, but he says it's at least being considered.
In other words, based on a photo, Laraque believes St-Louis is on board with the idea of having some experienced help behind the Canadiens' bench. That's one possible conclusion from that picture. It could just be that with everyone in Toronto because of the Hockey Hall of Fame weekend, Hughes and St-Louis ran into Gallant and sat down to have a coffee. That's plausible, too.

At this stage of the season and considering the current results, it could be an idea to get an experienced coach to help St-Louis behind the bench, but that could and should have been done in the off-season rather than now, where it looks like an admission that the team is somewhat desperate to change the course of the season.
An hour after Laraque's claim on BPM Sports' airwaves, TVA Sports Renaud Lavoie said on his X account that nobody from the Canadiens' organization had met Gallant in Toronto or elsewhere. It's not the first time there have been conflicting reports about the Canadiens.
RDS' Luc Gelinas spoke to Hughes, who told him he had dinner with St-Louis and Adam Nicholas in Toronto and that he hadn't seen Gerard Gallant since he won the Jack Adams Trophy at the NHL awards ceremony.
