Canadiens Longest Winless Streaks Under Martin St-Louis

The Montreal Canadiens don't play again until Saturday (Oct. 26), when they face the St. Louis Blues at the Bell Centre. The team has recently struggled to win in Primetime on Hockey Night in Canada game days, but that streak will eventually end.

In the meantime, the 2024-25 Canadiens are winless in their last four (0-3-1), the earliest they've dropped four consecutive contests in a season under head coach Martin St-Louis.

This year's streak beat the one (0-3-1) from 2023-24, which lasted from Oct. 30 to Nov. 7.

Montreal had six streaks of four or more winless games last season, reaching a season-high of five games from Feb. 15 to Feb. 24. Moreover, the team finished the campaign on a four-game losing streak, dropping its final four contests in a shootout or overtime.

In their last 11 games, dating back to Apr. 11, the Canadiens are just 2-4-5.

However, this year's group still has a little ways to go before challenging the longest winless streaks of the St-Louis era.

But, with some favorable matchups coming up on the schedule, these Canadiens should be able to snap the streak within the next week.

Here's a look at Montreal's longest winless streaks since Feb. 9, 2022:

  • Feb. 15, 2024 to Feb. 24, 2024: Five Games (0-5-0)

  • Dec. 21, 2022 to Jan. 5, 2023: Seven Games (0-6-1)

  • Mar. 2, 2023 to Mar. 13, 2023: Seven Games (0-5-2)

  • Apr. 9, 2022 to Apr. 24, 2022: Nine Games (0-9-0)

Interestingly, St-Louis took over as head coach in the middle of the ten-game winless (0-8-2) streak (Jan. 20, 2022 to Feb. 13, 2022), securing the final three losses on the streak before securing his first win.

In a time when everyone in the organization has preached the importance of taking a step forward, the team already ranks last in the Atlantic Division, a spot it didn't find itself in until Nov. 19, 2023, more than a month into the 2023-24 season.
