How Canadian NHL teams fared Wednesday

There were five Canadian NHL teams in action on Wednesday night. Here's a quick look at how they fared:

Bittersweet night for Canadiens

The Canadiens left Madison Square Garden with a 5-1 win over the Rangers, however Carey Price was replaced after the second period and wasn't around to see his team's three-goal outburst in the final frame.

Afterwards, Montreal coach Michel Therrien said that Price tweaked a previous injury, but doesn't believe that the star netminder was rushed back.

Coach unhappy with Oilers' effort

"That's a really, really disappointing performance by our hockey club," Edmonton coach Todd McLellan said after the Oilers were beaten 4-1 by the Hurricanes.

"I still believe in our group, but we weren't engaged physically. We were outworked. It's the determination factor that I'm looking for and I didn't think we were a very determined team."

Senators get the job done

Shane Prince potted the first two goals of his NHL career to open the scoring in the first period and his Senators went on to defeat the Avalanche 5-3.

Canucks edge Wild

Radim Vrbata scored a pair of goals as the Canucks defeated the Wild 3-2 in Minnesota.

Jets falter in Washington

The Jets opened a three-game road swing with a 5-3 loss to the Capitals, thanks to the go-ahead goal by Dmitry Orlov late in the middle frame.
