Canada Names February Rivalry Series Roster
Hockey Canada has named 25 players Canada’s senior national team for the Canadian leg of the 2024-25 Rivalry Series which will stop in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Summerside, Prince Edward Island.
“We are excited about the group of players we have assembled for these final two games against the Americans, which gives us another chance to look at the depth of our program while we look ahead to the Women’s World Championship in April,” said Kingsbury. “We are thrilled to immerse ourselves within two passionate hockey communities, meet with fans and showcase women’s hockey to everyone in Halifax and Summerside.”
The roster includes 21 players who were part of Canada's November Rivalry Series roster along with four new players. Those players are New York Sirens netminder Corinne Schroeder, New York Sirens defender Micah Zandee Hart, Montreal Victoire forward Jennifer Gardiner, and Minnesota Frost defender Sophie Jaques.
Canada enters the final leg of the 2024-25 Rivalry Series with a 2-1 series lead. USA opened the series with a win before Canada won back-to-back contests.
Nine of the PWHL's top 20 scorers are Canadian. Of those players, Jessie Eldridge, Michela Cava, and Claire Dalton were the lone omissions.
Not invited back to Canada's roster from the November games were NCAA players Chloe Primerano and Nicole Gosling, however, NCAA players have traditionally not participated in the February Rivalry Series games. The other two players left off the roster from the November lineup were goaltender Kristen Campbell and defender Jaime Bourbonnais.
21 players who suited up for the first three games in the United States in November - Ambrose, Bell, Clark, Desbiens, Fast, Fillier, Gosling, Jenner, Larocque, Maltais, Maschmeyer, Nurse, O’Neill, Poulin, Rattray, Serdachny, Shelton, Stacey, Thompson, Turnbull, Watts - will also return.
