Campbell And PWHL Part Of The Same Story

This season Jessica Campbell became the first full time on-bench assistant coach in the NHL. Alongside the PWHL, Campbell is part of the same story of growing opportunities for women at the professional level in hockey.

Ahead of Sunday's PWHL Takeover Tour stop at Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena, Campbell addressed members of the Montreal Victoire, including to ask captain Marie-Philip Poulin to read out the starting lineup for the NHL's Seattle Kraken.

Campbell is a former teammate of many PWHL players including Poulin, Natalie Spooner, Brianne Jenner, Blayre Turnbull, Emerance Maschmeyer, Emily Clark, Ann-Renee Desbiens, Jamie Lee Rattray, Erin Ambrose and several others with Team Canada and in the CWHL.

"I'm just so excited for you guys to be in Seattle...but just really the spectacle that you guys have created," said Campbell while addressing the Victoire. "The stage of playing in a National Hockey League arena, I know the reception here has been really positive, and I think the Rivalry Series a year or two ago was really positively received as well."

"You guys are going to be just completely blown away and I feel...my position everyday in the National Hockey League is completely aligned with the movement of what you guys are doing. I feel like it's my goal every day to continue to grow opportunities for women in hockey..."

Campbell is also a member of the Ottawa Charge staff serving as an advisor for the team.

The Montreal Victoire take on the Boston Fleet in Seattle as the first game of the PWHL Takeover Tour Sunday, January 5.
