Cambridge sign former Plymouth keeper Marosi

Cambridge United have signed goalkeeper Marko Marosi following his release by Championship club Plymouth Argyle.

The 31-year-old has agreed a deal to the end of the season and fills the gap left by on-loan Vicente Reyes, who was recalled by parent club Norwich City.

Marosi did not make a first-team appearance for Argyle after joining them in September but has English Football League experience with Doncaster Rovers, Coventry City and Shrewsbury Town.

"He brings quality and plenty of experience at this level and will improve us by adding fantastic competition to our goalkeeping department," boss Garry Monk told the club website.

Cambridge, who are away to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, are next to bottom of League One following defeats in their last five matches.

"It's new beginnings now for me and I am excited to be here," said Marosi.

"I have been there (battling relegation) before, it's not nice to be in this position but it's up to the team to come together and climb out."
