Cambiaso unlikely to leave Juventus in January but Man City pondering Douglas Luiz
Sunday’s reports suggest that Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso is unlikely to join Manchester City in January, but Pep Guardiola’s side are still weighing up a move to bring Douglas Luiz back to the Etihad as cover for the Ballon d’Or winning Rodri.
Reports over the last week claimed that City have been considering making a €65m bid for the Italy international, who is valued in the region of €80m by his current employers at the Allianz Stadium.
However, with a busy transfer window for Man City – Defenders Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and striker Omar Marmoush are all close to joining – City are unlikely to spend heavily on yet another defensive addition this month.
Man City slow down in pursuit of Juventus’s Cambiaso
According to reports from David Ornstein of The Athletic, Cambiaso is a player who is ‘admired’ in Manchester, but that is likely as far as the interest will go for now.
City are, however, still considering a move for another midfielder in January in order to cover for Rodri, who suffered a cruciate ligament (ACL) injury earlier in the season.
Douglas Luiz, who has previously been on City’s books, is a name who is still being evaluated, according to Ornstein’s report.
City are reportedly seeking a possible loan deal with Juventus, but there could be disagreements on the buy-out option, as Juve would reportedly prefer to include an obligation or to sell him outright, while City are aiming for a straight loan deal or one with an option to buy.
