Calum Ritchie Named Assistant Captain to Team Canada's World Juniors Team

Colorado Avalanche prospect Calum Ritchie, who made his NHL debut on October 9th, has been named one of Team Canada's alternative captains in the upcoming 2025 IIHF World Juniors Championship.

He joins Team Canada's leadership with Tanner Molendyk (A), forward for the WHL's Saskatoon Blades and Nashville Predators prospect, and Brayden Yager (C), forward for the WHL's Lethbridge Hurricanes and Pittsburgh Penguins prospect.

Ritchie was drafted by the Avalanche in 2023, #27th overall. He's been a member of the OHL's Oshawa Generals since the 2021-22 season. He was named alternative captain of the team for the 2022-23 season and has held the "A" on his jersey since.

This season alone, the 19-year-old has 8 goals and 26 assists in 18 games played for the Generals. In the seven games he played with the Avalanche at the beginning of the season, he only had one goal, which came on October 14th during the New York Islanders.
