Calling for Ohio State to fire Ryan Day just got so much dumber

Good morning, Winners! Welcome back to the Morning Win. Thanks so much for rocking with us today. We appreciate you giving us a bit of your time.
Firing Ryan Day was always a stupid idea. I'm glad we've officially established that now.
Well, I guess, I'm assuming we've officially established that now. You'd think that any coach in the college football world would be Teflon after winning a national championship, right? RIGHT?
OHIO STATE DID IT: 12 photos of OSU's CFP championship celebration
The only reason Day's job was ever "in jeopardy" is because the man just can't beat Michigan. He's been Ohio State's coach for four years. That means he's coached in The Big Game for four years. He's lost all four games. Beating Michigan is Ohio State's top priority every single year. Everything after that comes second — even national championships.
So, yeah. You can easily see how one might arrive to the place where they believe Ohio State should fire Day — especially after the last 13-10 loss this season. That one, in particular, feels inexcusable. Especially considering that Day put together a $20 million OSU team with a manchild on the outside at receiver in Jeremiah Smith. The Buckeyes should've destroyed Michigan.
But they didn't! And, ever since the final whistle of that game, it's felt like Day has been sitting on an unofficial hot seat with an ultimatum: Win a national championship, or else.
Here we stand today and he's done it. He's conquered college football. So all should be OK now. But, guys. Let's be real. It's pretty ridiculous that things weren't OK in the first place.
The numbers speak for themselves. After winning the CFP, Day is now officially 70-10 as Ohio State's football coach. Even after the Michigan game, he was 66-10. Getting fired for going 66-10 seems pretty ridiculous, man. Even if you'd have added an 11th loss there somewhere, it would've felt so dumb.
How many coaches have an 80-plus percent winning percentage under their belts? You won't find many people with those credentials — even if they can beat Michigan.
Coaching is a harsh profession. No matter what happens, when your team fails, it's on you. The players are too important to get rid of and management isn't going to fire itself. So the coach is usually the first domino to fall. If that had happened here? Whew, boy. It would've been so stupid. Ohio State better be happy they don't have to think about it anymore. At least for now, anyway.
The funny thing is if Day loses to Michigan again next season, we're probably having this same conversation all over again. I can't wait.
Novak Djokovic won't go away
Every time you think Novak Djokovic is done, he shows up in the semi-final of a major tennis tournament ready to win it all. It's so crazy.
Djokovic (ATP No. 7) beat Carlos Alcaraz (ATP No. 3) in the quarterfinal at the Australian Open this morning in four sets. He'll now see Alexander Zverev (ATP No. 2) in the semis.
CLASSY DJOKER: Djokovic applauded Alcaraz after upset win in Aussie Open
It's unbelievable that he's still doing this. He's 37 years old. He tore his meniscus six months ago. He's very cleary lost a step.
And, now, he's 99-9 in the Australian Open and looking to add more.
I'm not saying I'm picking Djokovic to go the rest of the way here. But what I am saying is that you certainly won't get me to pick against him. Not at this point. This is ridiculous.
A Funrivaled Weekend
Speaking of people I won't bet against, the new Unrivaled Basketball League is so much fun, you guys.
Typically, I'm not a fan of 3x3 basketball. I think it looks weird on television. It's usually in the halfcourt and things just seem so cramped. I
Unrivaled is so different. It's full court. The pace is insane. There's a game-winning shot in literally every single game because of the target score rule in the fourth quarter. The excitement with this league just doesn't stop.
The weekend's highlight was probably Skylar Diggins-Smith's game-winner to open the league. The Lunar Owls pulled off a gutsy comeback capped off by this shot right here.
HOOTIE HOOOOOOOOO.
We're only one weekend in, but this league has been excellent. I can't wait to watch more.
