Hakan Calhanoglu is expected to miss a handful of matches after picking up a new injury issue while doing recovery work from the adductor injury that forced him out of the Supercoppa Italiana final last week.

The Nerazzurri midfielder was not part of the squad for Inter’s 1-0 win away against Venezia in Serie A on Sunday. He was forced off just over the half-hour mark during the Supercoppa Italiana final loss to Milan with what was later confirmed to be a pull to the adductor muscle.

That issue was not expected to keep him out for a significant period of time.

Calhanoglu was subjected to a round of individual training while he recovered from his adductor pull. However, Inter have confirmed that while training individually, the Türkiye international reported a pain in his calf.

After undergoing medical tests, the club have confirmed that Calhanoglu is experiencing pain in the soleus muscle of his calf.

Sky Sport Italia report that he is expected to miss around two to three weeks of action as a result, which rules him out of Wednesday’s Serie A match against Bologna, and likely the upcoming games against Empoli, Sparta Praha and Lecce, and possibly Monaco in the Champions League at the end of the month.
