Calgary Flames Recall AHL Goals Leader Rory Kerins

The Calgary Flames have recalled forward Rory Kerins from their AHL affiliate Calgary Wranglers.

Kerins is second in the AHL with 34 points in 34 games and leads the league with 21 goals.

The Caledon, ON., native receives the call-up after Connor Zary went down with a scary knee injury.

A sixth round pick in the 2020 draft, Kerins was been a consistent goal scorer through his time with the OHL's Soo Greyhound, ECHL's Rapid City Rush, and now with the Wranglers. He was recently named an AHL All-Star for the first time.

Per THN's Ryan Gagne. Kerins skated in Mikael Backlund's spot at practice. His first chance to make his NHL debut comes Saturday against the Los Angeles Kings.

The 22-year-old centered a dominate line earlier this season with Jakob Pelletier and Dryden Hunt on his wings. His experience with Pelletier and Walker Duehr should help Kerins adjust to the Flames lineup.

The Hockey News Calgary dove into this move here.

We listed Kerins as a forward who deserved a call-up two weeks ago.
