Caleb Williams reacts to Bears hiring Ben Johnson as head coach

The Chicago Bears made waves with the hiring of Ben Johnson as their new head coach. Chicago landed the consensus top candidate, and they found someone who can help take this offense -- and the entire team -- to the next level.

It's a move that's been met with praise by fans and analysts alike, and reactions from Bears players are already starting to trickle out. After safety Jaquan Brisker praised the hire calling it "the turning point" for this team, quarterback Caleb Williams finally shared his reaction to the news. And he's just as excited as you'd imagine.

Following Johnson's introductory press conference on Wednesday, Williams met with reporters and shared that he let out a loud yell/scream when he got the call that Johnson would be his next head coach.

Williams' excitement comes as no surprise, especially after listening to him discuss Johnson ahead of the offseason, where it was clear he was interested.

"During our game, I would sit back and watch and try and learn something," Williams said. "It was fascinating to watch because he always, like I said, he had wrinkles for counters and things like that throughout the game. I think he's obviously done really well. It'd be cool to see how that all goes down."

Just days before the Bears hired Johnson, Williams appeared on the "St. Brown Podcast" and explained what qualities he's looking for in the team's next head coach -- and he pretty much described Johnson.

"Strong-minded, a leader of men," Williams said. "Selfishly, I want an offensive-minded guy so I can build with him and be with that coach for the next 19, 17, 15 years, so I can also learn and grow from him and what he's seen, that's selfishly. If we get an overall grand scheme coach who is good time management, the clock, helping control the game, helping find the right guys to win championships, that's my only goal."

Johnson was considered to be the top candidate in this coaching cycle, and Chicago faced competition from the Las Vegas Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars during this process. But Johnson reportedly was eyeing the Bears job last offseason, before the team opted to retain Matt Eberflus for a third season, which ended with his firing after a Thanksgiving disaster.
