Caleb Williams describes first conversations with Ben Johnson

There was plenty of excitement around the building at Halas Hall on Wednesday, including from Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, who was in attendance for his new head coach Ben Johnson's introductory press conference. After approximately 30 minutes of addressing the local and national media for the first time as Bears head coach, Williams also met with the media.

Already having had a few conversations with his new head coach, Williams shared some insight to what they have already discussed, and praised Johnson for a few of his personal traits. Wanting his head coach to not only be one with an offensive mind, Williams also stated he wanted a coach that would be hard on him, hold him accountable, and doesn't mess around. After their first few conversations, Williams said Johnson is exactly that.

"He's a no nonsense guy, he'll always have my back, he'll always give me support, so that was one of them [biggest things] the structure," Williams said. "Holding me accountable and us two being on the same wavelength. Him being the head coach, me being the quarterback, me being accountable, being on the right time, on the right page, doing everything right.

"Then from there being able to hold everyone accountable from my position. When you get to be on the same wave length with your head coach, the competitive fire we have towards each other, the discipline we have towards each other, the accountability we have towards each other."

It's clear that Williams and Johnson plan to work in unison, and they'll have a respect level that comes with not only being on the same page with one another, but holding one another accountable when things aren't going according to plan. The investment into Williams by the franchise is a real one, so it's imperative for he and Johnson to have a mutual understanding and tight-knit relationship.
