Torino President Urbano Cairo has denied rumours that he is looking to sell the club to Red Bull, although the Austrian energy drink manufacturers are still reportedly looking to invest in a Serie A club, according to Tuesday’s updates.

Recent reports from La Stampa suggested that Torino representatives have held meetings with delegates from Red Bull over a potential investment opportunity. However, Cairo has since told the same paper that the rumours of him looking to sell Torino at all are completely untrue.

“Years ago it was Ciuccariello, today it’s Red Bull. The subject changes but what is constant is the total falseness of the news that was published,” Cairo told La Stampa.

The Italian outlet, however, is adamant that Red Bull are seeking investment opportunities in an Italian club.

Torino would have made sense for multiple reasons, not least because of their ‘Toro’ branding, as it translates to ‘bull’ in English. Red Bull have also previously named their Italian-based Formula 1 teams as ‘Toro Rosso’.

According to La Stampa, there are several other criteria that Red Bull would look for if they are to invest in a Serie A club, the most important of which is being in control of its own stadium in order to help build commercial operations.
