L’Équipe understands that Burnley have joined the race to sign FC Nantes forward Stredair Appuah (20), who is attracting interest from two other clubs.

Following their relegation back to the EFL Championship last season, Burnley are looking to strengthen as they bid to return to the Premier League. Having turned to Ligue 1 last season, signing players such as Wilson Odobert, Maxime Estève and Lorenz Assignon, the Clarets’ attention is once again being diverted to the French market.

According to L’Équipe, Burnley have entered the race to sign the France U20 international, who has made nine Ligue 1 appearances for Nantes, including five last season. However, it is Palermo who are seemingly ahead in the race to sign Appuah, whose contract with Les Canaris runs until 2026.

The Italian club have already submitted an offer, reportedly worth around €2m. However, Burnely, who are yet to submit a bid, and Swiss side Young Boys, have now entered the fray.
