Bundesliga forward breaks silence on his future amid Barcelona links

Dani Olmo is one of the top players in focus in the ongoing summer transfer window, especially with the player having a release clause worth €60 million.

However, in order to sign the player for that amount, interested parties must meet the termination clause before the July 15 deadline.

In a recent interview with MARCA (h/t SPORT), the RB Leipzig forward was asked about his future and what could happen after the deadline of his release clause is over.

“Hopefully we’ll have to celebrate the title with our teammates and then we’ll see what happens,” Olmo said when asked what will happen to his future after July 14.

It must be noted that the final of the Euro 2024 is scheduled to be held on July 14, with Spain emerging as one of the favourites to win the coveted tournament.

Further discussing his future, Olmo indirectly pointed out his €60 million release clause, which stands to expire on July 15, while remaining coy about his future.

“You all know what’s in my contract, so… I’m here, happy, content and trying to enjoy the experience to the fullest. Whatever happens at the club, we’ll see,” Olmo said.

Barcelona on the prowl

The statement from Dani Olmo is another indicator of the player’s desire to leave RB Leipzig this summer, with Barcelona emerging as one of the potential suitors.

Olmo, in the past, has remained quite open to the idea of returning to Camp Nou. He even confirmed that a move to Catalonia is an ‘option’, in a recent interview.

Barcelona, for their part, are going through a difficult economic phase. But things are expected to improve in the coming days, with even La Liga president Javier Tebas hopeful of the club’s chances of operating ‘normally’ in the market this summer.

Nevertheless, Olmo won’t be thinking about his future, at least in the coming days. His immediate focus is on Spain’s upcoming quarterfinal tie against Germany on Friday.
