Bulls get first alternate court as NBA unveils new In-Season Tournament designs

For the first time in the history of the Chicago Bulls franchise, the iconic court will not be laid down for the entire season. The NBA just announced new alternate court designs that every team will sport during this year’s inaugural In-Season Tournament, and despite the fact that Chicago has never had an alternate court, they are included in that mix.

The new Bulls’ court takes their slogan, “See Red,” to a whole new level. For the In-Season Tournament, the Bulls’ entire court will be red, with a darker shade taking over the middle stripe and the tournament’s trophy denoting the paint.

In addition, a white Bulls logo will take center stage atop the tournament’s trophy in the middle of the court.

ESPN’s Zach Lowe detailed how the decision to create these new courts came about in a recent feature story. According to Christopher Arena, the NBA’s head of on-court and brand partnerships, painting the entire court was the biggest choice.

“The biggest decision was to paint the entire court with no wood showing,” Arena told ESPN. “That was the ‘Wow.'”

Bulls fans will be swimming in red for the In-Season Tournament as the cheer on their team, who will be fighting for a trip to Las Vegas.
