Bryce Mitchell accepts Dooho Choi's callout after UFC 310 win
LAS VEGAS – Bryce Mitchell agrees that a fight with Dooho Choi would be a banger.
After Choi (16-4-1 MMA, 5-3-1 UFC) finished Nate Landwehr in Saturday's UFC 310 main card opener at T-Mobile Arena, he called out Mitchell for an opportunity to re-enter the featherweight rankings. One fight later, Mitchell (17-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) scored a TKO of his own when he took out Kron Gracie.
When asked about Choi's callout, Mitchell reciprocated interest.
"I want to fight Dooho Choi because he called me out, and I think that's what people want to see," Mitchell told MMA Junkie and other reporters.
Mitchell admits that he initially wanted to avoid the ground with jiu-jitsu ace Gracie but was lured into it. Gracie opted to pull guard on numerous occasions until Mitchell eventually slammed him and knocked him out with brutal elbows in the third round.
"I thought I would do better with the punches, but I really didn't have the option to not go to the ground with him," Mitchell said. "People don't do that in training. People that I train with, I've never had somebody wrap their legs around me like that and pull me down."
Mitchell rebounded from his brutal knockout loss to Josh Emmett last December at UFC 296. "Thug Nasty" has split his past four appearances.
