Bruins Tough Guy Making Big Case For Extension
During the 2024 NHL off-season, the Boston Bruins acquired forward Mark Kastelic from the Ottawa Senators as a part of the Linus Ullmark trade. While Kastelic was a bit of a smaller addition for the Bruins this summer, he has undoubtedly made a significant impact since.

Kastelic, 25, has cemented himself as a very important part of the Bruins' bottom six already this season. He has given the Bruins plenty of much-needed toughness and energy, as his 135 hits in just 35 contests this season shows. He has also had some memorable fights.
In addition, Kastelic has given the Bruins some nice secondary offensive production in a bottom-six role. He has four goals and has already tied his career-high of 11 points, with plenty of the season still left to play.
Given how seamlessly Kastelic has integrated into the Bruins' system, it's reasonable to speculate on him receiving a potential contract extension in the near future. He is a player the team should aim to retain, so it would not be surprising if they locked up the pending restricted free agent before the season concludes.
It will be intriguing to see what happens with Kastelic and his next contract from here. If he keeps this kind of play up, a nice raise from his current $835,000 cap hit could be on the way.
