Bruins Top Prospect Proving He Belongs Big Time

On Jan. 14, the Boston Bruins recalled Matthew Poitras from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins. This call-up was undoubtedly deserved, as Poitras had eight goals and 20 points in 23 games with Providence following being demoted.

Since being called back up to the NHL roster, Poitras has not looked out of place in the slightest. In fact, he has fit back in beautifully, posting three assists and a plus-2 rating in three games since his recall.

Poitras' best game since being called up was on Jan. 20 against the San Jose Sharks. The 2022 second-round pick recorded the primary assists on both of Charlie Coyle's third-period goals.

Poitras is a skilled offensive player and has the tools to blossom into an impactful NHL playmaker. He has certainly been showing that off since getting another chance with Boston and is proving that he belongs to be playing in the NHL.

It will be intriguing to see how Poitras builds on his hot stretch of play from here. If he keeps this up, it could help the Bruins get things back on track.
