Bruins Surging Prospect Is Hidden Gem
The Boston Bruins are not known for possessing the strongest of prospect pools. This is understandable, as they have been constant buyers over the last several years. During that span, they have traded away several first-round picks.

While the Bruins' prospect pool is not among the best in the NHL, they still have some interesting players in their system. Dans Locmelis is one significant example of that.
Locmelis, 20, has taken a big step forward in his development this season with UMass. After posting seven goals and 14 points in 30 games last season, he already has three goals and 15 points in 17 games with the school this season. He is also not showing any signs of slowing down, as he has one goal and four points over his last five games.
Dans Locmelis, No. 10 in white, dishes an excellent back-hand feed through the crease to bring UMass within one goal last night against Sacred Heart. Confident player making confident plays and we should learn more about him as a prospect this season. #NHLBruins pic.twitter.com/UXZ5LOTmv8

With numbers like these, Locmelis is starting to cement himself as a top prospect in the Bruins' system. They may have found themselves a hidden gem, as he was selected with the 119th overall pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
It will be very interesting to see how Locmelis builds on his excellent season from here.
