Bruins Star Bouncing Back Big Time

The 2024-25 season has been challenging for Boston Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman. In 32 games, he has a 14-15-3 record, a 2.91 goals-against average, and a .895 save percentage.

A notable reason for Swayman's number being far below expectations is his brutal start to the season. After missing all of training camp, Swayman had some serious rust to shake off and struggled immensely. However, what's encouraging is that he has been playing quite well lately.

While Swayman has a 3-5-0 record over his last eight games, his 2.26 goals-against average and .918 save percentage demonstrate that he has undoubtedly been on his game. The Bruins' poor all-around play in front of him is the reason for his losing record over that span, especially when noting that Swayman had a .900 save percentage or better in seven out of those eight starts.

Swayman was also the primary reason the Bruins broke their six-game losing streak in their last win against the Florida Panthers on Jan. 11. The Anchorage, Alaska native stopped an impressive 40 out of the Panthers' 43 shots. The Bruins, on the other hand, ended the contest with just 18 shots after David Pastrnak won the game in overtime.

Seeing Swayman starting to get things back on track is a good sign for the Bruins. If the Bruins hope to be a playoff team this year, they will need Swayman to continue to be on his A-game from here.
