Bruins Reveal Interesting Number For New Forward

On Dec. 14, the Boston Bruins claimed forward Oliver Wahlstrom off waivers from the New York Islanders. With the Bruins needing more forward depth, taking a shot on a former first-rounder like Wahlstrom made sense for the Original Six club.

Now, the Bruins have announced Wahlstrom's new number with the Bruins, and it is certainly an interesting one.

After wearing No. 26 during his six-year stint with the Islanders, Wahlstrom will rock No. 71 with Boston.

The last Bruins player to wear No. 71 was star forward Taylor Hall, who has been the subject of trade rumors this season. The only other Bruins who wore No. 71 in Bruins history are Terry Virtue (1999), Jiri Slegr (2004-2006), and Marc Savard (2007 before switching to No. 91).
