Bruins Reportedly Linked To Interesting Kraken Forward

The Boston Bruins currently have a 25-21-6 record and have the top wild card spot in the Eastern Conference standings. While this is the case, every team that is right behind them has multiple games in hand, so they are far from being in a comfortable position.

Due to this, Bruins president Cam Neely has openly shared that the team could be either buyers or sellers at the deadline. If the Bruins decide to add to their roster, their top priority should be improving down the middle.

The Bruins appear to have a new center on their radar, as The Fourth Period reported that the Original Six club is one of the teams linked to Seattle Kraken forward Yanni Gourde.

Gourde, 33, is one of the top pending unrestricted free-agent centers who could find a new home this season. The Seattle Kraken currently do not have a playoff spot, so they are likely to be sellers.

If the Bruins acquired Gourde, he would give them another experienced option down the middle for their top nine. In addition, the Quebec native is well-known for his solid defensive play, so he would work on the Bruins' penalty kill as well if acquired. He also has two Stanley Cup championships on his resume, which adds to his appeal.

Gourde has appeared in 35 games this season with the Kraken, where he has six goals, 16 points, and 58 hits. Overall, he provides decent secondary offensive production and grit, so he could be a solid addition for the Bruins if they find themselves in a better spot in the standings near the deadline.
