Bruins Are Missing Star Defender Big Time

The Boston Bruins are heading in the wrong direction again. After getting their season back on track, they have now lost four straight games and six out of their last 10 contests. With this, they now have a 20-17-5 record and are in danger of falling in the Atlantic Division standings.

One of the main reasons the Bruins are losing games often right now is their shaky defensive play. Teams are capitalizing on the Bruins' defensive mistakes often, which is ultimately starting to sink the Original Six club.

With this, it has become transparent that the Bruins are missing star defenseman Hampus Lindholm right now. The 30-year-old has not played since getting injured during the Bruins' Nov. 12 against the St. Louis Blues. A return to the lineup also does not appear close, much to the dismay of the Bruins.

While players like Jordan Oesterle and Parker Wotherspoon have had their solid moments filling in, expecting them to replicate all that Lindholm provides is unrealistic. This is because Lindholm is a crucial part of the Bruins' top four and sees time on both of their special-team units.

We will need to wait and see if the Bruins can get things back on track, but they are certainly feeling the impact of being without Lindholm far more right now.
