Bruins Hit New Low In Embarrassing Sabres Loss

After winning back-to-back games, it seemed that the Boston Bruins were going to heat back up. However, they fell back to Earth disastrously on Jan. 28 against the Buffalo Sabres.

The Bruins lost by a 7-2 score to the Sabres, who are at the very bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. They were outplayed in every aspect of the contest, and this can officially be labeled as one of Boston's most embarrassing losses of the 2024-25 season.

The Bruins notably gave up two hat tricks in this one, as both Tage Thompson and J.J. Peterka scored three times for the Sabres. It was a rough night for the Bruins' defense, and goaltender Jeremy Swayman let in six goals on just 32 shots.

The Sabres had far more control during this contest, and they took advantage of it big time. This loss also stings extra for the Bruins because they threw away an opportunity to jump ahead of the Ottawa Senators again in the Atlantic Division standings.

With this loss, the Bruins now have a 25-21-6 record and a minus-25 goal differential on the season. They will look to bounce back against the Winnipeg Jets, a team that has 30 more points than the Sabres in the NHL standings.
