Bruins Gritty Forward Continuing To Create Trade Buzz

Boston Bruins forward Trent Frederic has been a popular name in the rumor mill this season. It was first reported by NHL insider Kevin Weekes last month that teams are interested in Frederic, and trade speculation has followed him since.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman provided an interesting update regarding Frederic in his most recent 32 Thoughts column. Here is what the insider said about the 2016 first-round pick:

"Teams who like Trent Frederic — and playoff-bound clubs love this type of player — are debating how serious Boston is about signing him."

It is not too surprising to hear that interested clubs are wondering if the Bruins are planning to sign Frederic to an extension. He is in the final season of his contract, and if the Bruins don't view him as a long-term part of their plans, he could be a valuable chip for them to trade to help bring in other talent.

Frederic has appeared in 28 games this season, where he has three goals, nine points, 84 hits, and a minus-9 rating. While he has not had a dominant start to the season, his high-energy style of play and previous offensive success could make him a very popular target as we get closer to the deadline.
