New Bruins Goalie Impressing Big Time

It is no secret that the Boston Bruins are in a stressful situation at this stage of the pre-season. Star goalie Jeremy Swayman remains a restricted free agent, and he and the Bruins are far apart with their average annual value asking prices. In addition, they no longer have fellow star Linus Ullmark, so a position of strength from last season now has plenty of questions.

While it is incredibly concerning that the Bruins do not have Swayman signed with the regular season right around the corner, new Bruins goalie Joonas Korpisalo is creating a bit of optimism with his strong pre-season play.

Although the Bruins fell to the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime last night (Sept. 28), Korpisalo put together an excellent performance. The 30-year-old saved 37 out of 40 Flyers shots he faced. In addition, he stopped multiple dangerous scoring chances in the process.

After his impressive start, Korpisalo now has 44 saves, a 1.91 goals-against average, and a .936 save percentage (SV%) in two pre-season appearances. This is great stuff from the nine-year veteran, and he will now look to translate it to the regular season from here.
