Montgomery, 55, certainly had plenty of regular-season success with the Bruins. In 184 regular-season games as the Bruins' bench boss, he had a 120-41-23 record. However, the Bruins' poor start to the season has now cost Montgomery his job.
As head coach of the Bruins, Montgomery notably won the Jack Adams Award in 2022-23 after leading the club to an NHL-record 65 wins. Furthermore, he coached a Bruins team that lost legends Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci the previous off-season to the second round of the playoffs in 2024.
As for Sacco, he was an assistant coach for the Bruins since 2014 before landing the interim head coaching gig. The Medford, Massachusetts native was previously the head coach of the Colorado Avalanche from 2009-10 to 2012-13. While with Colorado, he had a 130-134-30 record.
