This is exciting news for the Bruins, as Lindholm and McAvoy are two of their top defenders. Skating in regular jerseys is a major step in the right direction for the pair. However, they won't be back in the lineup just yet, as head coach Joe Sacco said they won't be options against the Buffalo Sabres on Jan. 28.

Lindholm, 31, has not played since suffering his injury during Nov. 12's contest against the St. Louis Blues. As a result, the key Bruins defenseman has been sidelined for a significant portion of the season, and they have undoubtedly missed him. In 17 games this season, he has three goals and seven points.

McAvoy, on the other hand, last played on Jan. 11 against the Florida Panthers. He is the Bruins' No. 1 defenseman, so his absence has surely been felt as well. In 45 games this season, he has five goals, 20 points, and a plus-2 rating.

It will be interesting to see when both Lindholm and McAvoy are given the green light to return to game action. They appear to be getting closer.
