Patera, 25, signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Canucks during this off-season. However, he will now be with the Bruins organization instead with this waiver claim.
Patera was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights with the 161st overall pick of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-3 netminder has eight games of NHL experience on his resume, posting a 3-3-1 record, a 3.57 goals-against average (GAA), and a .902 save percentage (SV%).
With this waiver claim, the Bruins have created more competition for their backup role.
