With the Boston Bruins needing a top-six right winger who can score, Bjorkstrand is a player the Original Six club should seriously consider pursuing.
Bjorkstrand is once again having a solid season with the struggling Kraken in 2024-25. In 43 games this season, the 6-foot forward has 13 goals, 28 points, and a plus-1 rating. This is after he had 20 goals and a career-high 59 points in 82 games with Seattle last season. He was also named to the All-Star Game for the first time in his career in 2023-24.
Bjorkstrand is also known for his immense consistency, which the Bruins have lacked this season. The 2013 third-round pick scored at least 20 goals in five out of his last six seasons, so he undoubtedly can put the puck in the net. Furthermore, while he had 18 goals in 2020-21 with the Columbus Blue Jackets, that was in only 56 games.
If the Bruins acquired Bjorkstrand, he could be a perfect addition to their second line with Brad Marchand and Elias Lindholm. His offensive ability could also benefit their struggling power play.
If acquired, Bjorkstrand would also be more than a rental for the Bruins, as he has a $5.4 million cap hit until the end of next season. The Bruins would need to send some money the other way in a potential move with Seattle, but it would be worth it, given his skill.
