Bruins Already Benefitting From Great Move

The Boston Bruins made a notable roster move on Tuesday (Jan. 14). Top prospect Matthew Poitras was recalled to their NHL roster, and it was well-deserved. The 20-year-old played excellently for the Providence Bruins following his demotion in November, posting eight goals and 20 points in 23 games.

The decision to call Poitras back up to the NHL roster is already benefitting the Bruins early on.

Poitras returned to Boston's lineup against the Tampa Bay Lightning last night and made an immediate impact. The 2022 second-round pick recorded the primary assist on Trent Frederic's early first-period goal, giving the Bruins a 1-0 lead over Tampa. Poitras' assist was a beauty, too, as he perfectly set up Frederic on the two-on-one chance.

Poitras has plenty of offensive potential, and he undoubtedly showed it off in his return to the Bruins' lineup against the Lightning. It will be fascinating to see how Poitras continues to play for Boston from here, but the decision to call him up has already been positive for the Original Six club.
