Brock Purdy injury latest: Practice time, updates on 49ers QB's status for SNF vs. Bills

The San Francisco 49ers played last week without Brock Purdy as the starting quarterback for the first time since Nov. 27, 2022. The result was the 49ers' biggest loss in six years, a 38-10 defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers.

San Francisco started Brandon Allen in Purdy's place and the fifth-year quarterback struggled. The offense had a season-low 241 total yards and committed three turnovers.

This week, the 49ers have another crucial road game, this one against the AFC East-leading Buffalo Bills on "Sunday Night Football." Snow and wind is expected for the game and could spell trouble for San Francisco again if Purdy is not in action.

Is Brock Purdy playing this week?

The 49ers listed him as questionable after the final practice of the week but he looks set to play. He spent Friday's practice throwing, unlike last week before the Green Bay game, and Allen wore a scout team jersey, meaning he's likely not starting again.

Purdy was a full participant in practice for the first time since Week 11.

He looks poised to return in what will likely be a tough matchup. He struggled at times last year in the playoffs during a rainstorm against the Packers in the NFC divisional playoffs and the forecast calls for snow during Sunday night's game.

San Francisco will be without top offensive lineman Trent Williams due to an ankle injury as well as left guard Aaron Banks (concussion) in a lengthy injury report. Star pass rusher Nick Bosa will be out again for the second straight week on Sunday.

If the 49ers can pull off an upset, Purdy and the offense will need to play very well.
