Brock Lesnar, Jon Jones and Nate Diaz punished by Nevada State Athletic Commission

The Nevada State Athletic Commission handed out disciplinary action to Jon Jones, Brock Lesnar and Nate Diaz on Thursday, ending a summer of turmoil for the trio of UFC stars.

All three fighters’ settlement agreements were approved and Lesnar and Jones will serve one-year suspensions by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for failing drug tests around UFC 200 while Diaz was fined and hit with community service.

In addition to the suspension, Lesnar will pay a fine of $250,000 after being flagged for an anti-doping violation by USADA on June 28 and July 9. His UFC 200 fight with Mark Hunt – which he won by unanimous decision after nearly five years away from MMA competition – will be changed to a “no contest.” He will be eligible to compete next summer.

Jones was infamously pulled from the UFC 200 main event just days before the event after testing positive for Hydroxy-clomiphene, an anti-estrogenic agent, as well the Letrozole metabolite, an aromatase inhibitor. His one-year suspension will end next July, and he fully expects to compete in the UFC shortly after. He was not fined.

As for Diaz, the Stockton fighter was levied with a fine of 2.5 percent of his $2 million UFC 202 purse ($50,000) and 50 hours of community service for his role in the bottle-throwing incident with Conor McGregor at the pre-fight news conference. McGregor was hit with a similar punishment as he paid 2.5 percent of his $3 million purse and received 50 hours of community service. Diaz took full responsibility for his role in the fracas and apologized for the incident.
