Blackburn Rovers have agreed a deal to loan Amario Cozier-Duberry from Brighton and Hove Albion, who signed the winger from Arsenal this summer.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Amario Cozier-Duberry is leaving Brighton and Hove Albion to join Blackburn Rovers on loan, with the deal now done and the agreement complete.

Cozier-Duberry will now get his first experience of competitive senior football in the Championship.

Up until this summer, the 19-year-old was playing for the Arsenal academy, but he rejected a contract offer from the Gunners to move to Brighton for a compensation payment.

That move initially looked like it might immediately pay dividends, with Cozier-Duberry scoring twice in his first Brighton appearance – a friendly against Kashima Antlers.

But he only went on to play 30 minutes of Brighton’s following three friendlies, and he’s yet to appear in a Premier League squad for the side.

Cozier-Duberry did make the Brighton bench for their League Cup tie against Crawley Town, but he didn’t get onto the pitch.

If he can’t get a game against lower-league opposition in the League Cup, it’s unlikely there will be minutes for him at Brighton this season.

Fellow Brighton summer signing Yankuba Minteh (20) is less than a year older than Cozier-Duberry, and he impressed throughout pre-season before starting the opening two games.

Brighton have also signed Brajan Gruda (20) for their right wing, and they have Simon Adingra (22) as well.

With at least three players ahead of Cozier-Duberry in his position, not to mention the injured Solly March, a loan is the best option.
