Brighton have agreed a £33m fee with Newcastle for Gambia forward Yankuba Minteh.

The 19-year-old has been given permission to discuss personal terms at the Amex ahead of a potential move.

Minteh is keen on a move within the Premier League after reportedly rejecting the chance to join Lyon in France.

Everton have also been in talks over Minteh, who excelled on loan at Feyenoord last season, but they could not agree a swap deal with Newcastle for the Toffees' England striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin last weekend.

The move to Brighton would be a major boost to Newcastle as they attempt to make at least one major player sale by the end of June to avoid the possibility of breaking Premier League profit and sustainability regulations.

Minteh scored 10 goals in 27 league games for Feyenoord, and he also found the net against Celtic in the Champions League.

Newcastle signed Minteh from Danish club Odense last June and he has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Magpies.
