Bridgeport Islanders Recall Cam McDonald From Worcester
The Bridgeport Islanders have recalled defenseman Cam McDonald from the ECHL's Worcester Railers, it was announced Thursday.
McDonald, who is in his first season of professional hockey, started the season with the Railers, collecting five assists in nine games.
Hailing from Eagle River, Alaska, McDonald joined the Islanders organization after spending the past five years playing in the NCAA for Providence College. In 162 career games on the blueline, McDonald put up nine goals and 31 points.
As McDonald gets his first call-up to the AHL, it will be interesting to see how he adapts. Although he stands at 5-foot-9, McDonald is a smart, calm defenseman who can make an impact at both ends of the ice. He's produced well as a pro so far and the organization will be watching him closely.
